SUMMARY:Play by Ear
DESCRIPTION:Play by Ear\nFriday\, June 21st \nGuest DJ: Mana Potion Project AKA James\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martín \nPlay is the exaltation of the possible.\n— Johan Huizinga \nThis quote beautifully encapsulates the essence and significance of play in human life. Play\, in its truest form\, is not only a recreational and enjoyable activity but a means through which individuals explore\, experiment\, and push the boundaries of what is conceivable. It is during moments of play that individuals transcend the limitations of reality and immerse themselves in a world where anything is possible.

SUMMARY:Expansion[contraction] ~ Special Event ~ Women’s Ecstatic Dance
DESCRIPTION:EXPANSION[contraction]\nSpecial Event ~ Women’s Ecstatic Dance\nOpen to all women identifying dancers\nSaturday\, June 29th\n \nFacilitator: Jeannie Adair\nGuest Co-Facilitator: Rachel Kelley \nIn our journey through life\, we often encounter societal conditioning that urges us to shrink\, to step back\, and not take up space. Yet\, within us lies an immense power\, a radiant light yearning to expand and shine brightly. This dance is an invitation to embrace both the expansion and contraction within us\, to honor the ebb and flow that mirror the cycles of nature. \nTogether\, we will dance through these cycles\, embodying the powerful balance of expansion and contraction.\nThis dance is a space to reclaim our power\, to move boldly\, and to embrace the natural rhythms that connect us to the universe and each other. \nThe intention for this event is a safe haven for women to come together in community. To connect deeply within. And to liberate themselves in their full spectrum of feeling and embodied expression. \n** Please note that the dance starts at Warm up. The doors close promptly at Opening Circle and any that come late will be turned away. Please be on time to ensure a safe and secure container. ** \n

SUMMARY:Shapeshifter
DESCRIPTION:Shapeshifter\nFriday\, July 12th \nFacilitator: Rory Jagdeo \nWhen we shapeshift we are playing with and learning to fine tune our energy. \nThis can take shape in the form of survival\, getting what we want\, or serving others. \nWhen we dance\, we shift\, we move\, we rise\, we fall\, we cry\, we laugh\, we come\, we go\, we hold on\, we let go. \nIt’s in this space that we have DIRECT access to the freedom and exploration that is required to dive deeply into ourselves and the many archetypes that take shape in our lives. \nThis Friday\, I invite you to dance with your many shapes and let them tell you things about yourself you never knew existed.

SUMMARY:Dancing with Our Ancestors ~ Women’s Ecstatic Dance
DESCRIPTION:Dancing with Our Ancestors ~ Women’s Ecstatic Dance\nOpen to all women identifying dancers\nSaturday\, July 20th \nFacilitator: Lanie McKeever Anderson\nGuest Co-Facilitator: Rachel Kelley \nThis Women’s Ecstatic Dance will be a dive into the healing and grounding presences of our lineages and the ancient Grandmothers and Grandfathers who preceded us. If we go far back enough in time\, these ancient\, indigenous ancestors existed beyond the divisions that exist now—they existed in harmony and interconnection with each other and our natural world. \nWe exist because of the strength and perseverance of the ancestors and ancestresses who came before. Without their lives\, their pain\, their joys\, however they were expressed–we simply would not be here. It is with this in mind that Life exists as a testimony and remembrance of how we all have navigated pain and joy–how we all share the burdens and gifts of many lives lived on this Earth. And have survived. \nWhat would it be like to call on your loving and powerful\, ancient Grandmothers and Grandfathers into the dance with you? To have them gather and dance with you\, sharing their blessings\, their presence\, and their strength as part of your inherent birthright? \nAnd here’s another thought: What would it be like to experience Life going forward\, knowing you are not alone and can receive their whispers of wisdom and guidance with you anytime? \nMy mixes on Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/rainbowdragonheart. \n

SUMMARY:A Fresh Start
DESCRIPTION:A Fresh Start \nFriday\, September 6th \nGuest DJ: Megan Belling\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martín \nThe inspiration for this evening’s dance is simple and it’s about creating a fresh start. We’re closing out our day\, and tomorrow we can simply start again and leave ideas or habits that aren’t serving us behind. At any moment we can choose something different. What would you like to leave on the dance floor tonight and what do you hope to pour into the new space you have freed up? We are the artist always creating who we are or who we want to be with every new action or thought. It’s never too late to change\, add\, or subtract to this sculpture that is you. \nMegan fell in love with Ecstatic Dance as a movement and spiritual practice on the Big Island of Hawaii. After participating as a dancer for 9 years\, she began DJing during 2020 live-streaming sets for people to feel connected to community at home. Her practice deepened when she moved to Austin\, TX – eventually expanding into mentoring new DJs for Austin Ecstatic Rhythms and organizing the Sunday Second Wave. Her style is a modernized version of the 5 Rhythms\, with a tribal edge. The intention for every set she creates is to provide a container for transformation while also not forgetting to play and have fun! \n

SUMMARY:Our Way Forward
DESCRIPTION:Our Way Forward \nFriday\, September 20th\nFacilitator: Lanie McKeever Anderson \nDuring this time of year\, feel the call to deepen into another new transition with the Earth. Sense into how this transition and call for balance asks us to expand our Hearts to hold more and more powerful\, contradictory emotions\, and to put one foot in front of another\, making our way forward through the dark. \nAs you look back at your old self from over the course of the year\, notice if once intense experiences seem to be fading away into the background—simply becoming part of the layered paint strokes on an endless canvas. Herein\, too\, may lie all the places where you have been guided\, pushed\, pulled\, and moved by Love in ways you may never have anticipated. Herein are all the places which may move you with gratitude. \nRemember that like our Earth\, our Home–your Heart and Soul seek balance.\nAnd there is no light without first resting in darkness. \nAllow this dance to move you into this Autumn season:\nMay your joy find balance amidst your sorrows.\nMay we all remember our birthrights.\nMay we all know Love. \nLanie’s Mixes on Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/rainbowdragonheart.

SUMMARY:The Phoenix
DESCRIPTION:The Phoenix\nFriday\, November 1st\nFacilitator: Jeannie Adair \nLet’s gather to honor the resilience of the human spirit—in the spirit of resilience that Maya Angelou speaks of in her powerful words: ‘You may trod me in the very dirt\, but still\, like dust\, I’ll rise.’ After the destruction of Hurricane Helene\, we stand here in Asheville\, a community that is rising from the ashes\, from the mud\, transforming pain into purpose\, and devastation into renewal. Just as the Phoenix burns and rises from its own flames\, we too are called to rise—not just as individuals but as a collective. In this dance\, we let go of what no longer serves us\, we burn away the old\, and we emerge—stronger\, wiser\, and with an open heart ready for rebirth. We rise into the daybreak\, wondrously clear\, full of life and hope.” May our purpose be clear and may we find the beauty in beginning again.

SUMMARY:Time
DESCRIPTION:Time\nSunday\, November 3rd\nFacilitator: Eduardo Arias \nTime\, the relentless river\, flows ceaselessly\, carrying us on its currents. For many of us\, the years have slipped by like grains of sand between our fingers\, leaving behind a trail of memories\, triumphs\, and lessons learned. We’ve chased dreams\, built bridges\, and weathered storms. Our lives are tapestries woven from threads of joy and sorrow\, each moment a testament to our resilience and determination. \nAs we pause to reflect\, we behold the landscape of our accomplishments: the loves we’ve nurtured\, the milestones achieved\, and the wisdom earned. Our hearts swell with pride and gratitude for the journey thus far. \nYet\, as we gaze toward the horizon\, a sentimental whisper stirs within: “What’s next?” The unknown beckons\, a blank canvas awaiting the brushstrokes of our future endeavors. Will we continue to grow\, to explore\, to love? \nIn this moment\, let us embrace time as our mirror. May it reflect our truest selves\, our deepest desires\, and our highest aspirations. May we cherish every second\, every minute\, every hour\, and every year\, for they are the threads that weave the fabric of our existence. \nLet us honor time\, this mysterious companion\, by living fully\, loving deeply\, and embracing the beauty of the unknown. For in its reflection\, we will find our own radiance\, shining brighter with each passing moment.

SUMMARY:Everything is Beautiful
DESCRIPTION:Everything is Beautiful\nFriday\, November 8th\nFacilitator: Lanie McKeever Anderson \nPlease join me for a precious moving prayer through ecstatic dance. \nEverything is beautiful and I am so sad.\nThis is how the heart makes a duet of\nwonder and grief. The light spraying\nthrough the lace of the fern is as delicate\nas the fibers of memory forming their web\naround the knot in my throat. The breeze\nmakes the birds move from branch to branch\nas this ache makes me look for those I’ve lost\nin the next room\, in the next song\, in the laugh\nof the next stranger. In the very center\, under\nit all\, what we have that no one can take\naway and all that we’ve lost face each other.\nIt is there that I’m adrift\, feeling punctured\nby a holiness that exists inside everything.\nI am so sad and everything is beautiful. \n~ poem by Mark Nepo\, “Adrift”\, from Inside the Miracle: Enduring Suffering\, Approaching Wholeness\, (Sounds True\, 2016)\n~ art by Lanie McKeever \nLanie’s mixes: www.soundcloud.com/rainbowdragonheart.
