SUMMARY:Inspired Action
DESCRIPTION:Inspired Action\nSunday\, February 11th\n\n\nFacilitator: Cat Hay \n\nThere was once upon a time\,\nI didn’t know my reason or rhyme\nPeople would say “oh you are doing just fine”\nBut that wasn’t the landscape of my inner mind \nI needed more\, I needed to feel and see\nHow is it my existence came to be?\nAnd if I am here is there a purpose to me?\nIs my life fated? Or is my life free? \nI looked all around\, desperate to know\nI read ancient texts\, learned the art of flow\nI sought wisdom in the trees\, in the caw of the crow\nI cried out for the pains that occurred long ago \nFirst I cried for my own unacknowledged pains\nFear\, anger\, grief\, am I insane?\nAnd then the pain went beyond my own selfish domain\nTo the wounds of a world living in vain \nSomehow through all this\, I came to realize\nThat in order to be here\, in order to survive\nWhatever the cause of my being alive\nInspiration would wipe the tears from eyes \nI noticed there were times when I felt a spark inside\nUpon seeing something so creatively divine\nOr reveling in the synchronicity of a series of signs\nAnd in the way a small act of kindness could change the course of one’s life \nI tended those sparks and followed their lead\nI let go of the things that felt wrong for me\nI gave up looking for a destination to be\nI followed my bliss\, trusting this as the key \nIt’s a conscious effort\, yet what else can we do?\nBut follow those sparks\, so bright & so true\nTending the seeds of our heart’s inspiration\nTrusting this to give will in taking right action \nThis more than anything has been my guiding star\nWhen everything else in the world seems dark\nI tune into these little sparks near and dear to my heart\nMay divinely inspired action bless our dance and our art \nCat will be djing a live set accompanied by live instrumentation by the incredible Kevin Spears. Check out his many musical accolades and accomplishments on his website at www.kevinspears.com \nSpears masterfully utilizes human ingenuity and technology to weave horns\, bass\, violins\, synths\, drums and world percussion – creating an instant one-man folk-world-funk band that will leave you spellbound and dancing all the same! \nCat and Kevin are excited to be collaborating to bring to AMC a unique one of a kind ecstatic dance experience ✨ Please plan to donate a little extra in support of our gifted musical guest! \nYou can hear more of Cats mixes at https://on.soundcloud.com/QQtbgGf5zFd9tcgS7

SUMMARY:Alive
DESCRIPTION:Alive\nSunday\, January 28th\n\nFacilitator: Rory Jagdeo\n\n \n\nTo be ALIVE is to FULLY embrace WHO YOU ARE. \nSo often we forget who we are and numb ourselves off so that we can endure living a life that is dead\, without heart\, color\, or feeling. \nWe have learned to separate out and bury all the colorful sparkly pieces of ourselves for fear of being rejected\, punished\, shamed\, or abandoned. But what if none of that’s true? \nWhat if I told you the worst is over now? Would you believe me? \nThis Sunday\, I invite you allow yourself to come alive in all the ways you have let yourself die over the years. \nWhatever parts of you have died are now invited to come ALIVE so you can dance with them. They have been waiting for you. \nBring what has held you back from your own life\, place it on the altar in your hearts eye\, come ALIVE\, and set yourself FREE!

SUMMARY:The Present Is Not a Result of the Past
DESCRIPTION:The Present Is Not a Result of the Past\nSunday\, January 7th\nFacilitator: Ted Riskin \nJust as a movie creates the illusion of continuity by displaying 24 discrete frames per second\, our experience of continuity from one present moment to the next is an illusion and optional.  As we start a new year\, we can have a new start to our lives.\n\nYou can hear some of Ted’s mixes at www.mixcloud.com/tarisk.

SUMMARY:In the End
DESCRIPTION:In the End\nSunday\, December 31st\nFacilitator: Cat Hay \n“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay\, it’s not the end.” – John Lennon \nMy invitation is to take this dance\, this moment\, to gaze into the horizons of the new year\, to reflect on the lessons of this last one\, to find the folly in time’s illusions\, and to drop deeper in that which transcends all time…for what is a beginning\, if not an ending? What is an ending\, if not a beginning? \nMay we dance in celebration of that place where beginning and endings know no separation\, where it is all one in the same…I think this is what John Lennon really meant when he said everything will be okay in the end. He knew that if anything\, in the end\, we are eternal\, and eternally okay at that \n

SUMMARY:Reflection on the Winter Solstice
DESCRIPTION:Reflection on the Winter Solstice\nSunday\, December 17th\nFacilitators: Robert Kochka & Amanda Crowe \n\n\n\nThis is a lovely moment – the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere..\nThe darkest day of the darkest week of the year . . .\n. . . a pause in the descent into darkness.\n. . . a pause before light overtakes the dark.\n. . . a pause before decrease changes to increase.\nIf you pay close attention\, you can feel it – the moment of pause before the shift occurs.\nThis longest night beckons us to pause\, too.\nWhat does any great athlete do…\n… before they dive into the water?\n… before they throw the discus?\n… before they grab the rings?\nThey pause.\nWhat are they thinking about?\nNothing — absolutely nothing.\nThis is what the solstice reminds us.\nJust stop and be. Do nothing.\nGo a little more slowly. Be a little gentler.\nSoon the darkness will recede and light will begin to increase. It will be time to think about setting goals and moving forward into the new year. To take action.\nBut now\, take a moment to pause before you plan.\nThis is the special moment of between – the moment that separates what was from what can be.\nby Jesse Lyn Stoner

SUMMARY:The Nativity of Caves
DESCRIPTION:The Nativity of Caves\nSunday\, December 10th\nFacilitator: Conway Weary \n\n\n\nOur bodies remember our ancestors’ deep relationship with caves. A place of refuge\, a canvas for storytelling\, a site for ceremony\, an invitation into mystery and the unknown depths…. long have caves been metaphors for birth\, death\, and the important inward journey into the dark places. \nHere as the Winter night closes in\, and the season of Nativity nears\, caves offer themselves. Perhaps their unfathomable mysteries will call us into a personal movement exploration of the deep interior of ourselves. \nDemeter \nIn your dream you met Demeter\nSplendid and severe\, who said: Endure.\nStudy the art of seeds\,\nThe nativity of caves.\nDance your gay body to the poise of waves;\nDie out of the world to bring forth the obscure\nInto blisses\, into needs.\nIn all resources\nBelong to love. Bless\,\nJoin\, fashion the deep forces\,\nAsserting your nature\, priceless and true.\nPeace\, child. Find your true kin.\n–    then you felt her kiss. \n— Genevieve Taggard

SUMMARY:Milk & Honey
DESCRIPTION:Milk & Honey\nSunday\, December 3rd\nFacilitator: Jeannie Adair \n\n\n\nMilk & Honey is an ancient term meaning a land overflowing with abundance. MILK\, meaning that which sustains us\, and HONEY\, the ‘extra’ sweetness that we need to thrive. \nWhat is luxury? \nIn Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way\, she defines luxury of spirit as being necessary to thrive in a creative life\, and the self-care of TIME and SPACE as requirements to experience true abundance. \nTime for deep rest and quiet. Time with friends and loved ones\, for laughter\, and to create new experiences of joy. Time to cry\, to grieve\, to feel your feelings. \nIn addition to time\, we also need space. Creating sacred space can be as simple as a candle in the windowsill or arranging a shelf that holds objects that are precious to you\, or decluttering and rearranging your furniture to clear the energy of your room.  These open us up to universal flow where we can more easily tap into our creativity in all aspects of our lives. These open us to more easily connect with our spirit. \nWhen we allow the self-care of time and space to sustain us\, we nourish ourselves with life’s MILK. Then each step we take is a dance of abundance\, every breath we draw is a delicious taste of life’s HONEY. \nThis dance invites you to revel in the luxury of spirit together through moments of connection\, creative expression\, and love dancing in our hearts.

DESCRIPTION:What’s Wrong? What’s Right?\nSunday\, November 26th\nFacilitator: Ted Riskin \n\nWhich draws your attention more?  The pretty painting?  The cute doggy?  Or the hole in its head?\n\nThat hole covers only about 3% of the area of the painting\, but we are compelled to focus there.  Our brains evolved to fixate on what is wrong\, because it helped us survive.  But that tendency thwarts our ability to feel contentment.\n\nGiving thanks is a simple way to rebalance our focus and feel more happy.

SUMMARY:Trust Fall
DESCRIPTION:Trust Fall\nSunday\, November 12th \nGuest DJ: Sara Bensman\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martin \nRemember that moment when you were caught off guard? Maybe it was a loss or maybe you received unexpected news. Suddenly the ground fell away beneath your feet. You hung suspended in midair for a long moment\, untethered to your known world. The wind moved through and blew away everything that was extraneous. You were unsure of what would happen next. Eventually you landed. Your body dropped to the ground again like the kernel falling into the winnowing basket. And you reoriented yourself to this new reality. \nLet’s expand that moment to a dance. Let’s witness how we navigate the uncertainty and explore the sensation of releasing our expectations. Let’s discover what we trust when we fall. \n
