SUMMARY:Spirals
DESCRIPTION:Spirals\nFacilitator: Marta Martín \n\nThe spiral in a snail’s shell is the same mathematically as the spiral in the Milky Way galaxy\, and it’s also the same mathematically as the spirals in our DNA. It’s the same ratio that you’ll find in very basic music that transcends cultures all over the world. \n— Joseph Bordon-Levitt

SUMMARY:The Boundless Heart
DESCRIPTION:The Boundless Heart\nGuest DJ: Jeannie Adair\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martín \n\nI’ve been reflecting on the nature of the heart as I prepare this mix. While discernment and boundaries are necessary to protect ourselves from harm\, I am filled with gratitude for one of the greatest gifts we have been given: the boundlessness of the heart and its limitless capacity to expand! Beyond the confines of our physicality and our emotions\, the heart extends far into the unseen realms\, and is part of the oneness of all things. \nOur animal bodies have  the remarkable ability to hold a vast range of emotions from profound joy\, deep sorrow\, fierce passion and gentle tenderness. Through the heart we can navigate the complexities of our inner landscape with grace and resilience\, and create profound shifts within ourselves and in the world around us. \nBeyond emotions\, the heart is a source of unconditional love that transcends boundaries\, cultures\, and differences. It has the capacity to radiate warmth and acceptance to all beings\, fostering connection\, understanding\, and unity. \nThe heart’s boundlessness is connection to the divine\, the portal through which we access our intuition\, higher wisdom\, and universal consciousness\, tapping into the collective energy of love and the oneness that permeates all existence. \nLet’s celebrate the boundless nature of the heart! In connecting with the rhythm of our beating hearts\, the music\, and our creative expression\, perhaps we will experience a sense of liberation\, of freedom\, and connection to ourselves\, to each other\, and to the infinite of our collective heart.

SUMMARY:Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Medicine\nGuest DJ: Lanie McKeever Anderson\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martín \n\nHow far you have come on this day –\nTo acknowledge the things you have locked away: \nGrief. Rage. Sorrow. Belonging. Power. \nHow far you have come on this day –\nTo step into this circle\,\nAnd witness the things we all have carried or thrown away. \nHow far we have come on this day –\nTo bring what lies within you and within me\nAnd to give it life with our bodies\,\nOur blessed breath. \nHow far we have come on this day –\nTo call down this big medicine\nAs we shoulder our joys and sorrows\, \nTogether. \nLanie McKeever is a visionary empath\, mystic artist\, fledgling music weaver\, and lover of enchantment\, currently residing in Asheville\, NC. SUMMARY:Metamorphosis
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Metamorphosis \nThe intention is to honor the passing of winter into the spring season where new growth\,  connections\, and directions abound. This is a time to reflect on those things that have passed away in the depths of winter and the lessons we’ve learned in the process of letting go. In its place we have an opportunity to create new intentions\, goals and collaborations. \nCome dance to the rhythms of nature. Sing and dance and embrace the suffering and pain and let it move through you into the courage and strength that lifts your eyes to the sky. The grandmothers and grandfathers invite us to sing… “earth my body\, water my blood\, air my breath\, fire my spirit.” \nWe are all in this dance of life together. Let’s not waste the time we’ve been given waiting on the sidelines for the change that lives inside us and through us. \nMicah (DJ Mikaya) Swabb will be playing a live dj mix. His mixes can be found at: https://soundcloud.com/mikayaswabb.

SUMMARY:Uncertainty
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Uncertainty \nBeing alive brings uncertainty. We often try hard to hold on to  “security” which can bring chaos into our lives. What if we were to slow down and take a breath before the next step? Let’s move through the dance floor with intention\, at a pace that is just right for each individual.

SUMMARY:Courage
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Courage \nCourage\, the original definition of courage\, when it first came into the English language — it’s from the Latin word cor\, meaning heart — and the original definition was to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart.\n― Brené Brown \nCourage is doing what you’re afraid to do.\nThere can be no courage unless you’re scared.\n― Eddie Rickenbacker\, World War I hero \nIn this world that we lived in–what we fear most is our own vulnerability. Showing up to your true nature at this dance is an act of courage; transcending your fears and connecting to your JOY is revolutionary. \nI invite you to dance your Open Heart with the Courage of your Divine Warrior Within\, in your body\, shining in your JOY.

SUMMARY:The Greening Within
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: The Greening Within \nHundreds of years ago\, the beginning of Spring and the New Year were honored around this time. This time served as a turning point for the seasons and signaled the onset of changes in weather as the elements of Winter sometimes clashed with the coming Spring. It was a time in which the land was turning towards warmth\, and with it\, towards new life. The greening\, the spark of new life\, was awakening. \nFor this dance\, the invitation is for us to work with this natural cycle of awakening—noting what landscapes within us are coming to life again. As Winter relinquishes the pause within us\, let’s turn our bodies\, minds\, and spirits towards the subtle warmth calling us into connection and growth. May you discover the ‘greening within’ and move it into this new year\, new cycle. \nLanie McKeever is a visionary empath\, mystic artist\, fledgling music weaver\, and lover of enchantment\, currently residing in Asheville\, NC. Finding ecstatic dance in 2014\, she has been moving and ‘moved’ by the healing power of voices\, rhythms\, and music ever since. SUMMARY:Feeling it All
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Feeling it All \nWhen you’re deeply sensitive\nLove is ecstasy.\nMusic is godlike.\nHeartache is a wide\, somatic wound.\nVisual natural beauty is jewel-drenched\nWild bliss.\nTension and conflict are muscle tightening\nAnd toxic\, straight down to the cells.\nSo how do you hold it all?\nYou rinse\nRecenter\nAnd remain clear.\nYou recycle your sensitivity\nBy propelling yourself and others\nTo create waves of change In a super starving world.\nDirect your passion\nBy spreading your heart\nOnly across what clearly matters most.\nSurround yourself with the souls\nAnd spaces that groove alongside your own-\nThe ones that also desire to chase the beauty\,\nCourage and freedom\nWe’re all here to teach each other.\nChoose love over fear\nAnd let go of the rest\nBreathing what isn’t best up out of your bones.\nRemember—\nThere is power in the body.\nHarness it for the greater good\nAnd allow nothing confusing\nPeace disrupting\nOr harmful stand in its way.\nIt is beautiful to feel in a body made for feeling\nAnd exist intensely on a planet exuding intensity.\n— Victoria Erickson

SUMMARY:10 Things I Learned from My Cat
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: 10 Things I Learned from My Cat \n\nIt’s OK to communicate my wants and needs.\nWhen bad things happen\, like being accidentally locked in the garage\, I don’t need to freak out or grumble. I can just make the best of things\, perhaps looking for interesting animals\, until someone opens the door.\nWhen a part of me says my cat loves me and another part says she’s just using me for food and chin scratches\, I get to choose which one to believe.\nWorrying about what people think of me is optional.\nWorrying about the future is optional.\nThinking is optional.\nEating something that dropped on the ground won’t kill me.\nI can catch up on sleep during the day if I want.\nI don’t need to be ashamed about bodily functions.\nAlways keep breathing.\nIt’s OK if I don’t know how to count to 10.\n\nMany of these lessons can be practiced on the dance floor. \nYou can hear some of Ted’s mixes at https://www.mixcloud.com/tarisk/.

SUMMARY:(Un)masked
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: (Un)masked \nFebruary is the season for Carnivale. Originating in 11th century Venice\, where for over 2 weeks\, people from all social classes wore masks and celebrated together. The mask became part of everyday attire for some to help break cultural norms.  A mask can bring out our darker natures\, and a more amplified\, authentic\, and less restrained version of our personalities. \nThe modern meaning of the word mask derives from Medieval Latin masca which means witch or specter\, and influenced by the Arabic maskara\, or buffoon. Used in rituals and ceremonies\, the oldest found dates from 7000 BC. \nThe mask is deeply imprinted in our psyche. The spiritual power in masks transport us into realms unseen and gives voice to things unspoken. Within the context of ritual\, putting on a mask places the wearer at the intersection between the present and the past\, the living and the dead\, the seen and the unseen.  Donning a mask can allow us to adopt the spirit of it\, and to connect with creatures\, our ancestors\, and the Divine. \nWhat about our own internal masks? Our personality masks?\nWe take steps to cover up who we really are around other people in social\, work\, or personal interactions\, mostly to protect ourselves from dominant culture\, or as a result from trauma. We can mask our personality with words\, facial expressions\, body language\, actions\, and even dance. Starting when we are very young\, many of us were taught to mask  to conceal negative emotions (usually sadness\, frustration\, and anger) with a positive emotion or indifferent affect.  If we wear a mask too long we can forget we are wearing it\, and it can cause depression and be depleting to our true nature. \nWhat masks do you wear? Are you the martyr\, the bully\, the comedian\, the overachiever\, the people-pleaser\, the social butterfly\, the conformist\, or the rebel?- \nThe invitation is to dance with your masks\, sifting though your social\, work\, and relationships masks.\nHow do they want to move?\nWhere do they live in your body?\nWhat does it feel like to put them on and take them off consciously\, in dance?

SUMMARY:Renewal
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Renewal \nWe have reached the mid winter mark. Some celebrate Imbolc\, Candlemass\, and Groundhog Day.  We all celebrate the returning of the light. The earth’s fire and Sunlight awakens nature and invites renewal.  Are we ready to shed the dry leaves and bark that protected us from our personal winter? Can we push through the frozen ground of our self imposed barriers? Can we sprout green leaves of self love and blooms of tenderness for ourselves and others? Can we dance to renewal?

SUMMARY:Dance for Your Life
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Dance for Your Life \nThis poem says it all:\nThey Danced for the Love They Felt\nby Shiloh Sophia McCloud\n(re-written by Stacey with “they” instead of “her” to be more inclusive) \nThey danced for the love they felt\, the love they gave away\, and the love they kept\nThey danced to free their spirit and to free other spirits too\nThey danced in response to joy and to process pain. \nThey moved their body like their life depended on it\,\nAll the while praying for love to come\, for sadness to go. \nThey danced for all the people who can’t dance for themselves. \nThey also taught others to dance for justice\, for truth\, for possibility…for healing the broken–hearted. \nThey danced with the little children and the wise old ones. \nThey danced to break the ties that bind our people\,\nTo bring awareness and healing\,\nTo invite friendship and art into the open spaces that the dance created. \nThey danced to break open the hearts of our people\,\nTo bring truth and compassion\,\nTo encourage kindness and vision towards the healed places that the dance created. \nThey danced to keep the flame of true love burning. \nThey danced for all the wishes\, all the dreams and all the blessings. \nThey danced the first dance and the last dance. \nThey danced when they were too tired to walk. \nThey danced for the living and for the dead\,\nIn birth and in mourning\,\nFor peace\, beauty and creative expression. \nThey danced their prayers all the way to God\,\nWhich wasn’t so very far after all.
