SUMMARY:The Source of Joy
DESCRIPTION:The Source of Joy\nSunday\, February 25th\nFacilitator: Ted Riskin \nNo one knows what makes the soul wake up\nso happy. Maybe a dawn breeze\nhas blown the veil from the face of God. \nA thousand new moons appear\, Roses\nopen laughing\, Hearts become perfect\nrubies like those from Badakshan. \nThe body turns spirit.\nLeaves becomes branches in this wind. \nWhy is now so easy to surrender\neven for those already surrendered? \nThere’s no answer to any of this.\nNo one knows the source of joy. \nA poet breathes into a reed flute\,\nand the tip of every hair makes music. \nSham sails down clods of dirt\nfrom the roof\, and we take jobs\nas doorkeepers for him. \n— Rumi\, translated by Coleman Barks \nYou can hear some of Ted’s mixes at https://www.mixcloud.com/tarisk/.

SUMMARY:::Into the Dreaming::
DESCRIPTION:Into the Dreaming: Quantum Explorations\nSunday\, February 18th\n\n\nFacilitator: Jeannie Adair \n\n“Into the Dreaming: Quantum Explorations” invites you on a journey where ancient wisdom meets modern science\, through the transformative power of dance. Inspired by the vast possibilities of quantum fields\, the nature of consciousness\, and the deep wisdom of ancient cultures. \nThrough dance\, we navigate the universe’s complexity\, blending consciousness\, creativity\, and connection. In non ordinary states of consciousness such as trance or ecstatic dance we can feel our quantum essence in the eternal now. Our movements reveal the layers of our existence\, linking us to past\, future\, and the realms beyond our everyday senses. \nThis journey uses dance to explore our dual nature: as waves\, our consciousness extends beyond time and space\, and as particles\, we are firmly in the physical world. I invite you to explore these dimensions\, embracing the possibility that our essence is spread across the universe\, yet intimately connected within ourselves. \nLet’s explore with open hearts and minds the profound duality of being both wave and particle\, moving fluidly through the endless realm of possibilities\, grounded in our physical essence\, and feel the unity and beauty that binds us all. \nYou can find my mixes on Soundcloud:

SUMMARY:Inspired Action
DESCRIPTION:Inspired Action\nSunday\, February 11th\n\n\nFacilitator: Cat Hay \n\nThere was once upon a time\,\nI didn’t know my reason or rhyme\nPeople would say “oh you are doing just fine”\nBut that wasn’t the landscape of my inner mind \nI needed more\, I needed to feel and see\nHow is it my existence came to be?\nAnd if I am here is there a purpose to me?\nIs my life fated? Or is my life free? \nI looked all around\, desperate to know\nI read ancient texts\, learned the art of flow\nI sought wisdom in the trees\, in the caw of the crow\nI cried out for the pains that occurred long ago \nFirst I cried for my own unacknowledged pains\nFear\, anger\, grief\, am I insane?\nAnd then the pain went beyond my own selfish domain\nTo the wounds of a world living in vain \nSomehow through all this\, I came to realize\nThat in order to be here\, in order to survive\nWhatever the cause of my being alive\nInspiration would wipe the tears from eyes \nI noticed there were times when I felt a spark inside\nUpon seeing something so creatively divine\nOr reveling in the synchronicity of a series of signs\nAnd in the way a small act of kindness could change the course of one’s life \nI tended those sparks and followed their lead\nI let go of the things that felt wrong for me\nI gave up looking for a destination to be\nI followed my bliss\, trusting this as the key \nIt’s a conscious effort\, yet what else can we do?\nBut follow those sparks\, so bright & so true\nTending the seeds of our heart’s inspiration\nTrusting this to give will in taking right action \nThis more than anything has been my guiding star\nWhen everything else in the world seems dark\nI tune into these little sparks near and dear to my heart\nMay divinely inspired action bless our dance and our art \nCat will be djing a live set accompanied by live instrumentation by the incredible Kevin Spears. Check out his many musical accolades and accomplishments on his website at www.kevinspears.com \nSpears masterfully utilizes human ingenuity and technology to weave horns\, bass\, violins\, synths\, drums and world percussion – creating an instant one-man folk-world-funk band that will leave you spellbound and dancing all the same! \nCat and Kevin are excited to be collaborating to bring to AMC a unique one of a kind ecstatic dance experience ✨ Please plan to donate a little extra in support of our gifted musical guest! \nYou can hear more of Cats mixes at https://on.soundcloud.com/QQtbgGf5zFd9tcgS7

SUMMARY:Alive
DESCRIPTION:Alive\nSunday\, January 28th\n\nFacilitator: Rory Jagdeo\n\n \n\nTo be ALIVE is to FULLY embrace WHO YOU ARE. \nSo often we forget who we are and numb ourselves off so that we can endure living a life that is dead\, without heart\, color\, or feeling. \nWe have learned to separate out and bury all the colorful sparkly pieces of ourselves for fear of being rejected\, punished\, shamed\, or abandoned.But what if none of that’s true? \nWhat if I told you the worst is over now? Would you believe me? \nThis Sunday\, I invite you allow yourself to come alive in all the ways you have let yourself die over the years. \nWhatever parts of you have died are now invited to come ALIVE so you can dance with them. They have been waiting for you. \nBring what has held you back from your own life\, place it on the altar in your hearts eye\, come ALIVE\, and set yourself FREE!

SUMMARY:Quintessential Heart
DESCRIPTION:Quintessential Heart\nFriday\, January 26th\n\nFacilitator: Cat Hay w/ guest vocalist Lillie Lumina\n\nInvitation: “Dance\, dance here again with me my love\, do you not remember when the music easily made us swing and sway? Lighting our spirits and seducing us away from toils and sorrows forget this darkness and the heavy sounds of the machine. The rattling\, buzzing clamour of its electricity; displaced and dislocated mind\, dismembered soul return from sea. Come still your senses that have run away with hype and fallacy. Come back this moment\, please\, if you could only see just for a moment summon your whole spirit to be free. Let your mind go and dance with mystic\, childlike reverie. Allow your quintessential heart to feel this rhythmic melody and show me in your eyes that you are here… with me.” – Katie Kamara\nArt by @vibrantlifeart \n\nDance is at Warren Wilson College – Bryson Gym\n102 Upper College Rd\, Swannanoa\, NC 28778

SUMMARY:Welcome the Dragon
DESCRIPTION:Welcome The Dragon\nSunday\, January 21st\nFacilitator: Jeannie Adair\n\n\nAs we step into 2024\, we welcome the Chinese Zodiac Year of The Dragon. Guided by the wisdom of the Dragon archetype\, let’s delve into the depths of our collective psyche and embrace the transformative power of this mythical creature.\n \n\nAcross cultures and throughout history\, the Dragon has been revered as a symbol of strength\, wisdom\, and untamed power. From the fiery dragons of Western folklore to the celestial dragons of the East\, this archetype carries profound significance. In the realm of psychology\, Carl Jung recognized the Dragon as a powerful symbol of the unconscious. It represents the forces that lie dormant within us\, waiting to be awakened. Dancing with the \n\nLet’s evoke the Dragon within ourselves and within our community. Through movement\, we will tap into the primal energy\, courage\, and creativity that the Dragon embodies. This dance offers a unique opportunity to confront our inner challenges\, awaken our inner fire\, and channel it toward positive change.

SUMMARY:Opinions
DESCRIPTION:Opinions\nFriday\, January 12th\n\nGuest DJ: Eduardo Arias\nSupporting Facilitator: Marta Martin\n  \nPoem: The Anatomy Of an Opinion\nIn the realm of thoughts\, where opinions hold sway\, Echoes of certainty\, in minds’ alleyways\, We build walls of belief\, so staunch and so stern\, Forgetting the lessons the world yearns to learn. \nOpinions\, like lenses\, tint our view\, Coloring the world in a singular hue\, We see not the rainbow\, but shades of our mind\, In the spectrum of thought\, we’re willingly blind. \nThe river of wisdom flows wide and deep\, But in shallow pools of ego\, we often sleep\, Confined by our views\, like fish in a jar\, Unaware of the ocean\, both near and far. \nThese strongholds of mind\, so rigid\, so tight\, Turn the day of understanding into night\, Where the stars of other perspectives are hidden\, In the dark sky of the ‘right’\, unbidden. \nLike birds in a cage\, our thoughts flutter and beat\, Against bars of conviction\, in relentless defeat\, The sky of possibility\, vast and unknown\, Remains unexplored\, unclaimed\, and alone. \nSo let us break free from these chains of ‘I know’\, To the fields of ‘perhaps’\, where new ideas grow\, For in the garden of open minds\, under the sun of doubt\, Blooms the flower of wisdom\, beautiful\, throughout.

SUMMARY:Full Circle
DESCRIPTION:Full Circle\nFriday\, January 5th\n\nFacilitator: Rory Jagdeo\n\nLife is a dance and we are all dancing all the time. Indeed\, we are born of movement. From early on in our lives\, movement expresses what we discover in the world. Dance is an incredibly powerful tool for introspection and deep self-exploration. When you dance\, you have the opportunity to experience the past\, the present\, and the future…sometimes all at once. Dance helps you track where you’ve been\, where you’re going\, and who you are becoming — to experience your life as a FULL CIRCLE! \nWhat have YOU experienced in the last year?? What have you let go of and what have you gained?? \nLet’s use this dance as an opportunity for deep reflection. Let’s use the music and the dance as a catalyst to free ourselves even more of things that no longer serve us for the journey ahead. This is a chance to celebrate and mourn and honor everything our bodies and our minds have experienced this past year. \nA chance to come FULL CIRCLE.
