DESCRIPTION:There is an ancient Chinese proverb that goes: “When the wind of change blows\, some people build walls\, others build windmills.” Change can sometimes cause us to become frightened. We may think staying with the same course is a good idea\, even when a more fruitful or favorable alternative awaits us. \nI invite you to practice dropping judgements\, releasing inhibitions\, letting go of resistance to change\, and going with the flow. Every dance is an opportunity to explore new territory with our self and with others\, through an intentional movement journey that opens the doors to heightened levels of feeling\, expression\, and discovery. Let’s make room for change and evolution – let’s give it a try together and be adventurous. Even if it feels edgy\, we can discover newness and change in our bodies\, in our hearts\, and with one another. \n\nPre-registration is highly recommended. We have limited capacity.

Rumi says it best: \nThis being human is a guest house.\nEvery morning a new arrival. \nA joy\, a depression\, a meanness\,\nsome momentary awareness comes\nas an unexpected visitor. \nWelcome and entertain them all!\nEven if they are a crowd of sorrows\,\nwho violently sweep your house\nempty of its furniture\,\nstill\, treat each guest honorably.\nHe may be clearing you out\nfor some new delight. \nThe dark thought\, the shame\, the malice.\nmeet them at the door laughing and invite them in. \nBe grateful for whatever comes.\nbecause each has been sent\nas a guide from beyond.

SUMMARY:Freedom in Motion
DESCRIPTION:No matter what kind of dance we find ourselves in\, we have the capacity to be completely free within it.  The invitation is to be free from our own mental limitations\, from the inner dialogue\, from any idea that some people are “better dancers”. If we can be so present with each movement\, our inner world will be one of calm and ease\, regardless of the intensity or placidity of the dancing current. Without judging our dance as neither graceful nor awkward\, we can simply notice the movement\, and enjoy whatever sway feels natural. \nPre-registration is highly recommended. We have limited capacity.

DESCRIPTION:Invitation: The Receptive \nFrom the Dark\nSparks the Light\,\nFrom the Land\nShapes the Seas\, \nWhen Devotion to Stillness\,\nBrings Movement\,\nIn a Circle Together\nWe Kindly Receive \nTo Dance Forever\nNow is the Practice\,\nAs we Learn to\nFollow and Lead \nHold out your Hand\nReceptively with a Smile\nDancers Come and Go\nWeaving in Style \nWhen the Music Stops\nAsk yourself this:\nDid you leave it All\nOn the floor\,\nDid you take\nThat big Risk \nFor life is short\nAnd Dances must End\nUntil they are re-birthed\nAgain and Again. \nInspired by my love and devotion to this practice of dance\, I wrote a poem to help set our collective intention for our Sunday dance. It is a simple reminder\, of what this practice can be.
