SUMMARY:Purification
DESCRIPTION:Purification\nFacilitator: Cat Hay \nTo a pure heart all hearts are pure. \n— Mahatma Gandhi\n\nThe offering up or cleaning up ego stuff is called purification. Purification is the act of letting go. This is done out of discriminative awareness. That is\, you understand that you are an entity passing through a life in which the entire drama is an offering for your awakening.\n— Ram Dass\n\n\nMay this dance be pure and purifying.\n\nYou can hear more of Cat’s mixes at https://soundcloud.com/purrriestess.

SUMMARY:Procession of the Equinox
DESCRIPTION:Procession of the Equinox –  align with the rhythm of the cosmos! \nFriday\, September 22nd\nGuest DJ: Chris Chamberlin aka Illusions of Duality\nSupporting Facilitator: Cat Hay \nBio: The Illusion of Duality can be found somewhere in between the bass & the treble bridging the gap between electronic and organic. Born & raised on the west coast playing strings\, percussion & keys\, The Illusion of Duality honed his craft on the decks far before electronic music was popular in the early 2000’s. This alchemical artist uses frequency embedded in a universe of rhythm to navigate between the darkness & the light. On the dance floor\, his worldly sound will guide you on an ever evolving adventure of downtempo bass\, medicine house and pure vibes sure to lead you “home”… Beyond the good or the evil\, to a place where we are all ONE.\n\nYou can check out Chris’s mixes on his soundcloud at  https://soundcloud.com/the-illusion-of-duality

SUMMARY:Embrace Your Weird
DESCRIPTION:Embrace Your Weird\nFriday\, August 11th \nGuest DJ: Jeannie Adair\nSupporting Facilitator:Cat Hay \n\n\nOriginally coming from the Germanic language\, the word weird was spelled “wyrd” in Old English\, and signified destiny and fate\, intricately woven together by unseen forces. I invite you to pay homage to this ancient wisdom. In this dance\, we will honor the weirdness that lies within each of us—our uniqueness\, our quirkiness\, and our unconventional magic that sets us apart. We recognize that our individual wyrd is a thread woven into the larger fabric of existence\, creating a beautiful and harmonious dance of diverse souls.\n\n\nIn this space of acceptance and celebration\, we acknowledge that our wyrd is not something to be hidden or suppressed\, but a treasure to be cherished and explored. It is through our weirdness that we find our authentic selves\, liberated from the expectations of conformity.\n\n\n\nSo let’s welcome our ecstatic weirdness with open arms\, moving fearlessly\, knowing that we are an essential part of the grand cosmic dance!  Let us weave our unique wyrd into a vibrant tapestry of love\, joy\, and freedom to create a collective energy that reverberates from the dance floor out into the world.\n\n\n\n\n\nLeontine (Jeannie Adair) is on the AMC facilitator pathway and loves sharing her passion for mixmaking and dance medicine. You can find her mixes at: https://soundcloud.com/dancingleontine.\n\n\nPut your body in motion and the psyche will heal itself.\n— Gabrielle Roth

DESCRIPTION:Surrender\nFriday\, July 21st \nGuest DJ:Munodoc\nSupporting Facilitator: Cat Hay \nIn the face of uncertainty\, of transformation\, of that which we cannot control comes the ultimate test- do we resist\, or do we let go? \nWhen we resist\, the shadows come out\, and the suffering comes in…\nBut when we accept\, allow and embrace\, we become open to the new paradigms of being that beckon us\, we release our desires\, and we find the flow\, basking in the light of our liberation. \nThere is no greater misfortune\nthan wanting something for oneself.\nTherefore he who knows\nthat enough is enough\nwill always have enough\n– Tao Te King\, chapter 47 \nBio: Juan Pablo Mendez-Barjau started playing and making music at an early age\, and a big part of his journey has been centered around the music shared amongst friends and family. Such an intimate style of relating allowed for connection in a more creative and harmonious way. The joy and sadness experienced within musical collaboration initiated his own personal healing process\, which has now led to him living out his soul’s purpose of sharing these gifts with others. With music celebrated as “Middle Eastern to Indian Music meets lush electronics”\, this event will bring a unique offering to AMC that is meant to inspire flow and transcendence. The workshop will be assisted by Cat Hay and will include contextual and spiritual teachings from the mystic path and how this lives through sound and body as we practice embodiment exercises for whirling and flow. Following the workshop\, we will have an extended dance wave of live music with electronics and towards the end will move into acoustic\, all together creating an evening of eclectic fusion music. \nYou can check out more about Karavan Sarai at https://www.karavansaraimusic.com/. \nPlease arrive promptly at 4 to attend the workshop and by 5:15 for the opening circle. \nNo childcare is provided.  Children are welcome to attend. We ask parents to please take their child outside if they are needing to express themselves during quiet moments or are causing disruption to the container.

SUMMARY:What Dreams May Come
DESCRIPTION:Invitation:\nYou are born to fly\, and in dreams you remember the soul has wings\n— Robert Moss \nOur nightly dreams can contain a wealth of untapped insight and can help us process our day to day experiences\, memories\, and emotions. Sometimes our dreams may be trying to help us resolve a problem or bring something to our conscious waking attention. Sometimes our dreams are our bodies trying to communicate with us. Dreams invite us to spiral inward and explore our connection to meaning\, purpose\, and soul. Sometimes our dreams connect us to what is happening in the collective or our communities or something larger. \nFor this dance\, I invite you to connect with a dream that you are curious about and see if it wants to be danced and moved. Allow yourself the chance to dance a new ending\, a new insight. Maybe\, just maybe\, there is something there waiting in the ‘wings’—ready to transform and fly! \nLanie McKeever is a visionary empath and artist\, fledgling music weaver\, and lover of enchantment\, currently residing in Asheville\, NC. Finding ecstatic dance in 2014\, she has been moving and ‘moved’ by the healing power of voices\, rhythms\, and music ever since. She is grateful to explore ecstatic dance with Asheville Movement Collective.

SUMMARY:Initiation
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Initiation\n \n\n“And the present\, our life\, everything that happens to us is merely an opportunity to meet the tests and trials and challenges of initiation. An opportunity to relax the tensions and dissolve away the stresses we have stored up within ourselves\, for aeons and aeons of time\, by our thoughts and words and deeds…the tensions and stresses that are the cause of our destiny\, our future. To the extent that we are able to become conscious of those tensions and overcome them\, we free our human consciousness which is tied down by these energies and limited because it is tied down\, and we identify our consciousness with the true divine self waiting behind every personal feeling of ego… \n…The self – at one and the same time the self of all living creatures\, and therefore my self – knows no bounds; so the entire universe is with me\, and my self fills all the universe. Everything that is – I am! In everything I love\, I love my self\, for the only things we think we don’t love are what we haven’t yet come to recognize within ourselves! The self is life and the only reality\, and whoever is initiated into the self – and in this way has come to know themself completely – loves everything and everyone equally\, for they are one with them… \n…and that is…INITIATION!” \n-Excerpt from “Initiation” By Elizabeth Haich \n

SUMMARY:Freedom in Motion
DESCRIPTION:No matter what kind of dance we find ourselves in\, we have the capacity to be completely free within it.  The invitation is to be free from our own mental limitations\, from the inner dialogue\, from any idea that some people are “better dancers”. If we can be so present with each movement\, our inner world will be one of calm and ease\, regardless of the intensity or placidity of the dancing current. Without judging our dance as neither graceful nor awkward\, we can simply notice the movement\, and enjoy whatever sway feels natural. \nPre-registration is highly recommended. We have limited capacity.
