SUMMARY:Uncertainty
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Uncertainty \nBeing alive brings uncertainty. We often try hard to hold on to  “security” which can bring chaos into our lives. What if we were to slow down and take a breath before the next step? Let’s move through the dance floor with intention\, at a pace that is just right for each individual.

SUMMARY:Our Divine Feminine
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Our Divine Feminine \nFacilitator: Marta Martín \nNo matter what pronouns we use to describe ourselves\, the divine feminine is an integral part of who we are. As we embrace the divine feminine\, we seek the balance that works for each of us. Can we soften the sharp bits and support the fragile parts that keep us from embracing all we are? As we move together\, can we celebrate the energy of the fertile and nurturing earth\, the moon energy\, the sensual feeling beneath our feet and the divinity in ourselves and others and seek the balance we crave? \nThe music for this wave seeks to honor female artists and musicians from all over the planet.

SUMMARY:(Un)masked
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: (Un)masked \nFebruary is the season for Carnivale. Originating in 11th century Venice\, where for over 2 weeks\, people from all social classes wore masks and celebrated together. The mask became part of everyday attire for some to help break cultural norms.  A mask can bring out our darker natures\, and a more amplified\, authentic\, and less restrained version of our personalities. \nThe modern meaning of the word mask derives from Medieval Latin masca which means witch or specter\, and influenced by the Arabic maskara\, or buffoon. Used in rituals and ceremonies\, the oldest found dates from 7000 BC. \nThe mask is deeply imprinted in our psyche. The spiritual power in masks transport us into realms unseen and gives voice to things unspoken. Within the context of ritual\, putting on a mask places the wearer at the intersection between the present and the past\, the living and the dead\, the seen and the unseen.  Donning a mask can allow us to adopt the spirit of it\, and to connect with creatures\, our ancestors\, and the Divine. \nWhat about our own internal masks? Our personality masks?\nWe take steps to cover up who we really are around other people in social\, work\, or personal interactions\, mostly to protect ourselves from dominant culture\, or as a result from trauma. We can mask our personality with words\, facial expressions\, body language\, actions\, and even dance. Starting when we are very young\, many of us were taught to mask  to conceal negative emotions (usually sadness\, frustration\, and anger) with a positive emotion or indifferent affect.  If we wear a mask too long we can forget we are wearing it\, and it can cause depression and be depleting to our true nature. \nWhat masks do you wear? Are you the martyr\, the bully\, the comedian\, the overachiever\, the people-pleaser\, the social butterfly\, the conformist\, or the rebel?- \nThe invitation is to dance with your masks\, sifting though your social\, work\, and relationships masks.\nHow do they want to move?\nWhere do they live in your body?\nWhat does it feel like to put them on and take them off consciously\, in dance?

SUMMARY:Renewal
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Renewal \nWe have reached the mid winter mark. Some celebrate Imbolc\, Candlemass\, and Groundhog Day.  We all celebrate the returning of the light. The earth’s fire and Sunlight awakens nature and invites renewal.  Are we ready to shed the dry leaves and bark that protected us from our personal winter? Can we push through the frozen ground of our self imposed barriers? Can we sprout green leaves of self love and blooms of tenderness for ourselves and others? Can we dance to renewal?

SUMMARY:Dance for Your Life
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Dance for Your Life \nThis poem says it all:\nThey Danced for the Love They Felt\nby Shiloh Sophia McCloud\n(re-written by Stacey with “they” instead of “her” to be more inclusive) \nThey danced for the love they felt\, the love they gave away\, and the love they kept\nThey danced to free their spirit and to free other spirits too\nThey danced in response to joy and to process pain. \nThey moved their body like their life depended on it\,\nAll the while praying for love to come\, for sadness to go. \nThey danced for all the people who can’t dance for themselves. \nThey also taught others to dance for justice\, for truth\, for possibility…for healing the broken–hearted. \nThey danced with the little children and the wise old ones. \nThey danced to break the ties that bind our people\,\nTo bring awareness and healing\,\nTo invite friendship and art into the open spaces that the dance created. \nThey danced to break open the hearts of our people\,\nTo bring truth and compassion\,\nTo encourage kindness and vision towards the healed places that the dance created. \nThey danced to keep the flame of true love burning. \nThey danced for all the wishes\, all the dreams and all the blessings. \nThey danced the first dance and the last dance. \nThey danced when they were too tired to walk. \nThey danced for the living and for the dead\,\nIn birth and in mourning\,\nFor peace\, beauty and creative expression. \nThey danced their prayers all the way to God\,\nWhich wasn’t so very far after all.

SUMMARY:...and breathe
DESCRIPTION:…and breathe\n\n\nBreath happens\, whether we are consciously aware of it or not.  When I’m aware of my breath\, in any context\, I’m likely to be more grounded and openhearted.  Today’s mix will take us through a wide variety of emotions and images.  Use it as an opportunity to do it ALL with breath. \nWhen people ask me what the most important thing is in life\, I answer ‘Just breathe’.\n— Yoko Ono \nBreathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.\n— Oprah Winfrey \nBreath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness\, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered\, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.\n— Thich Nhat Hanh

SUMMARY:Stepping In
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Stepping In \nAs the days and nights grow colder we naturally turn inward to prepare for Winter.\nOn a physical level\, we step inside to warmth and coziness\, perhaps into quietude and stillness.\nOn a mental level\, we may be stepping into self reflection or even letting go of what we no longer need.\nOn a spiritual level\, we may be stepping closer to our true Self. \nI invite you to consider what you are stepping into?  Your power? The unknown?\nFinessing a skill\, working on completing a project\, a deeper connection with friends or lovers?\nConnecting to spirit or a particular path? \nHow can we step in to our endeavors with our whole hearts\, allowing our true Self to lead us on?\nHow does that feel in our bodies and inform our movement in the dance?

SUMMARY:Reflection
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Reflection \n\nWe are approaching a Frost/ Beaver/Blood Moon. A time for reflection\, and gathering strength in preparation for winter. What kind of strength are we gathering? How are we reflecting our strength to others? Are we following the full moon’s encouragement to move beyond our comfort zone?  How will any of it show up on the dance floor?

SUMMARY:Welcoming it All
DESCRIPTION:Invitation: Welcoming it All \nEach person comes to the dance floor with different experiences. The invitation for this dance is to welcome it all– every emotion\, every thought\, every breath. Nothing left out. Rumi says it best: \nThis being human is a guest house.\nEvery morning a new arrival. \nA joy\, a depression\, a meanness\,\nsome momentary awareness comes\nas an unexpected visitor. \nWelcome and entertain them all!\nEven if they are a crowd of sorrows\,\nwho violently sweep your house\nempty of its furniture\,\nstill\, treat each guest honorably.\nHe may be clearing you out\nfor some new delight. \nThe dark thought\, the shame\, the malice.\nmeet them at the door laughing and invite them in. \nBe grateful for whatever comes.\nbecause each has been sent\nas a guide from beyond.
