AMC is a volunteer driven organization. We would not be able to dance each week without the support of our volunteers. Volunteering is a meaningful way to participate in and contribute to serving the AMC dance community.
The bulk of a volunteer’s duties is to help out with set up, sign-in, and breakdown. This includes preparing the space by setting up the equipment and working the sign-in table, as well as sweeping and cleaning the area if needed. All volunteers greet dancers as they arrive and ask dancers to sign in and pay. Other volunteer duties may be needed when there are special events. Each time you help setup and breakdown, you’re invited to receive a free dance the wave you work (after set up and before break down) and you’ll receive a voucher to dance at another regular AMC dance for free. If you have any special needs or questions about volunteering, please email the volunteer coordinator.
About the volunteer shifts
For our Sunday dances, we have two volunteer shifts available for each wave. The first wave shift starts at 7:30am. The second wave shift starts at 10:30am. It is expected that you stay through the end of the dance. For our Friday dances, we have four volunteer shifts available which start at 6pm.
When you sign up for shift, please:
Arrive on time. Your shift times will be emailed to you.
Check in with the Room Coordinator. The RC will work with you to make sure everything is ready for the dance.
Stay for the full shift. We need your help before and after the dance.
Have fun! Connect with people, dance, and be a part of the magic that makes AMC.
