Dance to Breathe, Breathe your Dance – Jan 12

Dance to Breathe, Breathe your Dance

Sunday, January 12th
Guest Facilitator:
 Mikaya Swabb
1st Wave Supporting Facilitator: Conway Weary
2nd Wave Supporting Facilitator: Michael Hurd

You are invited to explore the relationship and connection between dance and breath. How can we use our breath to empower and enrich our dance. Wave 1 and 2 are unique mixes that will use different types of rhythms to inspire various forms of movement and breath.

Mikaya Swabb Bio

Mikaya has an advanced understanding of dj set arrangement for conscious dance events. He uses a spectrum of musical genres to deepen somatic embodiment through movement, breath and presence. Using a large bell curve progression in his sets, the journey begins peacefully, builds momentum and contrast, and then lands softly with resolution and grace.

Mikaya’s mixes inspire the full expression of meditation through movement in ways that widen the scope of one’s self-awareness. Mikaya has shared the stage with David Starfire, The Human Experience, Ean Golden, Nickodemus, [Clever Alias], and DJ Dragonfly to name a few. He has played at Asheville Movement Collective, Dance Church Maui, Ecstatic Dance Salt Lake City, Maui Conscious Dance Collective, Burning Man, Beloved Festival. He’s also an excellent sound healer using the gong, Tibetan singing bowl, Native American flute, N’goni, hand drum, and other sacred sound healing instruments.
