AMC is excited to announce InterDance – a workshop and wave focused specifically on interactive dancing (dancing directly together not just simultaneously in the same room, but interacting and engaging with the other dancers directly). Participants are invited to attend both the workshop and the dance wave, though  if you wish to attend only one of these offerings that is perfectly fine, please note the appropriate arrival times in the schedule below.

The intention of the workshop is to help us find more ease and fluidity in dancing with others. We believe our body holds the intuitive wisdom we need to guide our choices in the dance and the workshop and wave will be opportunities to explore and practice that.

This workshop is not about working harder, but rather relaxing softer, in order to listen more deeply- first within our self, and then with each other. The first half of the event will be co-facilitated by three of our own team members, Cat, Ran, and Michael. It will support participants in practicing the skill of tuning in to their own bodily sensations and instinctual urges towards movement or stillness. There will also be plenty of opportunities to explore how we can engage with others in ways that feel safe, appropriate, playful and curious.  We will have the opportunity to experience ourselves as part of the collective by intentionally moving with each other. We will play with toggling back and forth between this kind of attention within and without, ultimately aiming to cultivate a culture of embodied empowerment. After the workshop, we will have a short break with some light refreshments and then together we can enjoy an extended wave DJ’d by our very own Micah S. during which we can practice the connection and attunement skills that we cultivated in the workshop.

You would be a great fit for this workshop if you:
-Are willing to feel awkward and or silly at times and have fun doing so
-Would like to feel more comfortable dancing with others
-Love getting down with others who are excited to dance together
-Consider yourself skilled or unskilled in the art of moving with others

You (and we) would probably not be happy you came if you:
-Want to “do it right” all the time and not make mistakes or feel silly
-Are not open to learning something new and risking the creation of new neural pathways
-Like to judge others so you feel better about yourself
