Volunteers, MX Best of 2014, and a Friday Change

Volunteers: The Heart of AMC

We could not dance every Friday and Sunday—over 150 dances—without our volunteers. They’re the heart of AMC; the essential muscle that moves life through our collective body.

Volunteer Hands & Hearts

If you haven’t heard, AMC recently hosted a “no ticket” community meal and invited fellow dancers to join in honoring our volunteers. Bill Najger concocted another delicious spread while Steven and Greg assisted with the preparation.

As Volunteer Coordinator, I get to meet and work with an incredible group of people that are devoted to our dance community. Our hard-working volunteers share so much of their time and energy to support AMC—what a wonderful experience to relax and spend some time with each other for a change.

Almost all of us that are deeply involved with AMC today started out as volunteers. If you have never tried volunteering and would like more information, I’d be happy to speak with you!

Mountain Xpress 2014 Best of WNC

Mountain Xpress Best of WNC 2014AMC was voted third for Best Place to Dance in the recent Mountain Xpress Best of WNC, tying with The Orange Peel! The category led with The Admiral and Scandals Nightclub.

What a difference! AMC offers space to move that allows us to be present with ourselves and with others, free from substances that affect our ability to be authentic. You, the dancers, are who really received the votes. While many folks in Asheville enjoy the terrific entertainment offered at other dance venues, we continue to co-create dances that encourage authentic self within a loving community.

How awesome is it to see our dance practice growing; to participate in a volunteer-based community where all people, all ages, are invited to dance together and share the love of moving as one?

Y’all rock!

New Location: Fridays at Asheville Ballet Studio

Asheville Ballet Street View

Beginning Friday, September 5, our regular Friday dance will be held at the Asheville Ballet Studio on Weaverville Highway (right where Merrimon merges toward Woodfin). We’ll dance at Asheville Ballet on September 5, 12, and 19. We will not be at Asheville Ballet on September 26.

Asheville Ballet has a combination Marley and suspended Maple floor and we want to help care for it. If you usually wear supportive footwear, please take a few moments before dance to ensure that your soles are clean and smooth.

Always visit our website for the latest information about where we’ll be dancing!
