Wubbed in Dub ~ Special Event ~ AMC’s 25th Birthday – Friday Night Ecstatic Dance
Friday, February 28th
Guest DJ: Mikaya
Supporting Facilitator: Jeannie Adair
This will be a live dj set in homage to the bass heavy subcultures of dub. This set is structured by the classic ecstatic dance wave progression. We will wub shoulders with the music of psychill, psydub, reggae, reggaeton, dubstep, melodic bass, and some eclectic intelligent dance music.
Facilitator Notes
MIKAYA (Micah Swabb) is an Ecstatic Dance DJ and facilitator for cathartic dance events. He has a deep understanding of set arrangements for drug-free dance events, yoga classes and ceremonies through his 12+ years of experience. MIKAYA’s mixes inspire meditation through movement in ways that widen the scope of one’s self-awareness and self-expression.
His mixes use a wide variety of musical genres like global bass, tropical house, techno, glitch hop, downtempo, classical and ambient. These musical journeys begin peacefully, build momentum and contrast, and then land softly with resolution and grace. MIKAYA also produces mash-ups and mini-mixes in various genres. He teaches people how to make world class ecstatic dance mixes both from his home in Asheville, NC and virtually online.
